Editing Independent Topologies¶
After you create an independent topology and add child nodes, you can move child nodes, remove child nodes, and delete and rename the independent topology.
Note
On Topology menu page, only the topology outside the site node can be edited. To edit a site node and its sub-nodes, see Managing On-Site Topologies.
Prerequisites¶
The current account has the permissions for Topology menu, as well as permission points for managing assets and topologies. Contact the application administrator if required.
The required independent topology has been created. For more information, see Creating Independent Topologies.
Moving Child Node¶
Child nodes can only be moved to other nodes (excluding the root node) within the range of the current topology tree. Use Asset ID to move the node and its sub-nodes to another node in the current topology tree or move the position within the current parent node.
Moving to New Parent Node¶
Select Topology menu in the left navigation bar.
On the node to be moved, select Move to Another Parent Node .
In the pop-up window, enter Asset ID of the asset assigned on the target parent node, and the name of the target node will be displayed automatically after an exact match. On Site Onboarding > Configure Devices step page, you can find the target Device/Component/Custom Type Asset ID. For information on the Configure Device page, see Configuring Devices.
When moving a node, please note the following restrictions:
Moved nodes must satisfy the object constraints of the topology rules. For more information on topology rules, see Topology Rules.
Moving a node to a position under its child nodes is not supported.
Moving to a target parent node that is 7 layers away from the top node is not supported. For example, the target parent node
H
is located in theA-B-C-D-E-F-G-H
topology structure, which is 7 levels away from the top-level nodeA
, so no child nodes can be added under it.When the target location has more than 10,000 assigned objects at the same level, another object cannot be moved to this location.
Select OK to move the current node and its child nodes to the specified node.
After the move is successful, the current node will appear at the position of the first child node of the target parent node, and the child nodes under it will also move to the new position.
Sorting under Parent Node¶
Select Topology menu in the left navigation bar, select the node to move, drag it to the target position, and release it to complete dragging. Note that dragging is only supported within the current parent node.
Deleting Independent Topology¶
To delete a topology tree, you first need to remove all topology nodes under the topology tree, and then delete the topology tree.
Removing Child Node¶
Select Topology menu in the left navigation bar, and select Remove on the target node to remove it. If there are child nodes under this node, you will need to remove the child nodes before removing the node.
Removing a node is not the same as deleting an object. Only Custom Type objects created when adding topology nodes will be deleted when removing nodes. Other Site/Device/Component/Custom Type objects created on the site onboarding page will not be deleted.
Deleting Independent Topology¶
After removing all nodes on the topology tree, select Delete next to the topology tree name to delete it.
Renaming Independent Topology¶
Select Topology page in the left navigation bar, select the topology tree to be renamed on the left, and select Rename .
Enter a new topology tree name in the pop-up.
Select OK to finish renaming the topology tree.
