Creating an Asset Tree and Node¶
This section shows how to create an asset tree and bind an asset to the asset tree.
Prerequisite¶
To create an asset tree, ensure that you have obtained the full access permissions for Asset Tree. If you do not have the access, contact your OU administrator. For more information about user access in EnOS, see Policies, Roles, and Permissions.
Ensure that you have read the limitations for asset trees and logical assets. See Limitations.
Creating an Asset Tree¶
Note
You can create a maximum of 100 asset trees within an OU.
In EnOS Management Console, click Asset Trees from the left side navigation panel.
Click + on the upper left corner to create an asset tree.
In the Create Asset Tree window, fill in the name for the asset tree.
Click Next when you are done.
Select how you wish to add a root node, by binding to an existing asset, or create an asset then bind it, and then click Next.
Bind to Existing Asset: In the asset list, select an asset (device or logical) to add to the root node and click Confirm. You may use the filters to help to narrow down your search.
Create an Asset and Bind: Fill in the basic information for the asset. If the model you selected contains attributes, fill in the attribute values for the asset. Note that assets created here are created as logical assets and can be found under Device Management > Logical Assets once the asset tree is successfully created.
Binding a Device to Asset Tree Node¶
After creating the asset tree, you can bind an asset to the tree node using the following methods.
Add an existing device/logical asset to the asset tree
Create a logical asset based on the model
Binding an Existing Asset¶
Click + next to the root node.
In the New Sub-node pop-up window, select Bind to Existing Asset and click Next.
In the asset list, select the asset(s) to be bound to the tree and click Confirm. You may use the filters to help to narrow down your search.
Only those assets that have not been bound to this asset tree are displayed. You can select at most 200 assets at one time.
Creating an Asset Based on the Model¶
Click + next to the root node.
In the New Sub-node pop-up window, select Create an Asset and Bind. Click Next.
Fill in the basic information for the asset. If the model you selected contains attributes, fill in the attribute values for the asset. Note that assets created here are created as logical assets and can be found under Device Management > Logical Assets once the sub-node is successfully created.
Click Confirm to finish creating and binding an asset.
