Registering an FTP Data Source


Before synchronizing data from an external FTP data source to EnOS Hive, you need to register the data source to configure the connection information of the FTP server.


This section shows the steps to register an FTP data source in EnOS.

Procedure

  1. In the EnOS Management Console, click Data Source Registration from the left navigation menu.

  2. Click Add Data Source and provide information for the following.

    • Data Source Type: Select FTP.

    • Data Source Name: Enter a name for the data source. The maximum length is 50 characters and can be a combination of the following characters.

      • a through z

      • A through Z

      • 0 through 9

      • _ (underscore)

      • -(hyphen)


    • Data Source Description: Enter a description for the data source.

    • Type: Select either FTP or FTPS as the protocol to connect to the data source.

    • Mode: The connection mode.

      • When you select the active mode, the FTP server will initiate the connection.

      • When you select the passive mode, EnOS will initiate the connection.

    • Encryption Mode: When you select FTPS as the protocol, select whether to use explicit or implicit encryption mode.

    • Encryption Type: When you select FTPS as the protocol, select whether the FTP connection is over TLS or SSL.


    • IP Address: Enter the IP address of the FTP server.

    • Port: Enter the port number to use for the connection.

      • For FTP connection, the default port is 21.

      • For FTPS connection, the default port for explicit transmission is 21 and for implicit transmission, 990.


    • Username: Enter the user name for accessing the FTP server.

    • Password: Enter the password of the user name.


  3. Click Test to test the data source connection.

  4. Click Done to save the configuration.

Results

The data source will be shown in the Data Source Registration table.

When the connection is successfully established, you can follow the steps below to synchronize data from the data source to EnOS Hive.

  1. Create a channel to read Hive data source, refer to Creating a Channel.
