Key Concepts¶
This article introduces the key concepts involved in EnOS Data Catalog.
Metadata¶
Metadata, also known as intermediary data and relay data, is data about data, which is used to describe the specific content of the data.
Object¶
Also known as an entity, this represents some specific types of metadata objects. Objects constitute the core content of metadata catalog management.
Object Type¶
Object/entity types can include: data object types such as measurement points, data tables, equipment assets, files, services, and so on. For example: Table/Hive Table is an Object Type, and the data table actually stored in a database is an Object.
Tag¶
Tags play a role similar to tags. The classification of data objects can be flexibly managed through tags. Tags are like a classification template with common attributes, such as: PII, EXPIRES_ON, DATA_QUALITY, and SENSITIVE.
Tag Attribute¶
Attributes in tags are properties, for example: the expiry_date attribute in EXPIRES_ON category.
Glossary¶
The glossary provides some appropriate Words that can be associated and classified with each other to help users understand them well even in different contexts. The glossary provides abstracts of technical terms related to data, which helps users find and use data in a more familiar way.
Term¶
Terms in the glossary. For terms to be useful and meaningful, they need to be grouped and managed around their purpose and context.
