Key Concepts¶
This section shows the key concepts of EnOS Device Provisioning Service.
Master Data Group¶
A master data group is a pre-configured template that defines the asset type and master data for devices. It can be linked to multiple registration groups.
Registration Group¶
A registration group is a pre-configured template that defines the onboarding configurations for the devices registered under it. It can be linked to only one master data group.
After registering devices in the registration group, a number of operations such as generating and exporting of device QR codes, allocating, reprovisioning, editing, and deleting devices etc. can be done for them.
Master Data¶
Master data are device attributes that can be configured for devices in registration groups. Master data can be divided into the following two types based on the sources:
Built-in master data: master data that is pre-created in Device Provisioning Service and is universal in all OUs.
Newly created master data: master data that is manually created on page and is applicable in the current OU.
It is recommended to create master data only if the device to be onboarded needs to use the reported device attribute or gateway data.
Master data created in a master data group will be automatically added for configuration for devices created in registration groups that are linked to the master data group.
Gateway¶
A gateway is the service that the uploaded data, such as measurement points or attributes, from devices onboarded through the Device Provisioning Service will be directed to for data processing.
Device Serial Number (Device SN)¶
The device SN is a unique device identifier within a registration group used for onboarding devices.
Reprovisioning¶
Reprovisioning in the Device Provisioning Service is the re-allocating of connected devices to another environment/OU with minimal disruption. In the process, the device will be disconnected from its current environment/OU, and after reprovisioning, it will have a new asset ID, product key, and device secret while its device name, Group ID, Group Secret, and device serial number will remain unchanged.
