Key Concepts

Below are the key concepts of Application Portal.

Organization Unit (OU)

Organization Unit (OU) is a collection of users, resources, applications, and services. OU is the top-level account management unit of EnOS Application Portal.

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Application Portal provides the Role-Based Access Control management console. OU administrators can manage users’ application and resource permissions by organization structures, roles, and user groups.

Organization Structure

Organization structure displays the hierarchical relationships within the OU based on factors such as function or region, which consists of multiple nodes. OU administrator can manage both application and resource permissions by configuring organization structure. For example, after assigning a user to a node in an organization structure, OU administrator grants the user with the permissions to view the information of the organization structure and the resources associated to the user’s node in applications. For more information, see Managing Organization Structures.

Role

Role is a collection of permissions, including menu access permissions, operational permissions, and organization structure access permissions. To make permissions available to OU users, OU administrators or sub-administrators grant roles to the users. For more information, see Managing Roles.

Operational Permission

Operational permissions allow users to perform specific actions in applications. When you grant a role to a user, the user gets all operational permissions in the role.

Visible Organization Structure

Visible organization structures allow users to view the information (such as layers and nodes) of a specified organization structure. When you grant a role to a user, the user can view the information of all visible organization structures in the role.

User Group

User group is a collection of users with the same permission on specified resources. OU administrator can assign resources to a user group to manage the resource permission of users in batch.

Internationalization

Application Portal provides internationalization function for the collaboration among users in different languages. When entering fields like names or descriptions, users can configure different contents for each display language. The internationalization icon i_i18n displays along side the fields supporting internationalization, which users can select to configure the display contents for different languages. For more information, see Internationalization.

Application

The applications that OU registered or purchased in EnOS Management Console will be automatically synchronized to Application Portal. In Application Portal, there are 3 types of applications:

  • Customized Applications: the applications registered in EnOS Management Console.
  • Purchased Applications: the applications purchased in EnOS Management Console.
  • Application Shortcuts: the applications created in Admin Console by OU administrators, which might contain menus and permissions from multiple applications.

Sub-Administrator

OU Administrators can designate users as sub-administrators and specify the scope and permission of the sub-administrators to increase management efficiency. Managing Sub-Administrators.
