Key Concepts

Below are the key concepts of Application Portal.

Organization Unit (OU)

Organization Unit (OU) is a collection of users, resources, applications, and services. OU is the top-level account management unit of EnOS Application Portal.

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Application Portal provides the Role-Based Access Control management console. OU administrators can manage users’ application and asset permissions by organization structures, roles, and user groups.

Organization Structure

With nodes as the unit, organization structure displays the hierarchical relationships within the OU based on factors such as function or region. In Application Portal, OU administrator can manage both application and asset permissions by configuring organization structure. For example, after assigned to an organization structure by the OU administrator, users can get access to the applications assigned by the organization structure, and can view the information of the assets associated to the user’s node. Role

Role is a collection of permissions, including menu access permissions, operation permissions, and organization structure access permissions. After assigned to a role by the OU administrator, users can get all permissions of the role. For more information, see Managing Roles.

User Group

User group is a collection of users with the same permission on specified assets. OU administrator can assign assets to a user group to manage the asset permission of users in batch.

Internationalization

Application Portal provides internationalization function for the collaboration among users in different languages. When entering fields like names or descriptions, users can configure different contents for each display language. The internationalization icon displays along side the fields supporting internationalization, which users can select to configure the display contents for different languages. Application

The applications that OU registered or purchased in EnOS Management Console will be automatically synchronized to Application Portal. In Application Portal, there are 3 types of applications:

• Customized Applications: the applications registered in EnOS Management Console.
• Purchased Applications: the applications purchased in EnOS Management Console.
• Application Shortcuts: the applications created in Application Portal Admin Console by OU administrators, which might contain menus or permissions from multiple applications.

Menu Group

A menu group is a collection of menus displayed in an application, which is formed by combining the created menus. Once a menu group is assigned to a role, the role has the permissions to access any menus in the menu group. The application’s menus are configured by the application developer via the application registration page in the EnOS Management Console.

Permission

Permissions are used in applications to give users operational capabilities in the applications. Permissions are assigned to roles, and the users of the roles will have the corresponding assess rights based on the permissions.

Visible Organization Structure

Visible organization structure is an organization structure associated to specified applications and assigned to specified roles. Users with the roles of visible organization structure can have access to the layer or node information of the organization structure via associated applications.

Sub-Administrator

OU Administrators can designate users as sub-administrators and specify the scope and permission of the sub-administrators to increase management efficiency. Managing Sub-Administrators.
